Bad Luck

We just got rear ended on our way back from our date. We were stopped in a long line of traffic about 200 yards back from a red light and got hit hard. The bumper of the van is smashed and the door doesn't open very easily. Man!!!

Beautiful Day

I had today off. For the rest of the district, it was a flexible PD (professional development) day, meaning you go if you want, but our school didn't have anything planned. Meaning: We got a three day weekend.
I left the house early to grocery shop, and when I came home, we headed to JcPenney to have Sarah's 6 month pictures and Bekah's 3 year pictures taken. We also had a few taken of them together, but only 1 turned out good enough to buy. They were running a bit late (20 minutes or so) and by the time we did both of the girls and changed their clothes, they were getting a bit uncooperative. It didn't help that Sarah had only taken a 10 minute nap on the way to the mall all morning at 11:30ish. She ended up falling asleep on the way home, but only slept for 90 minutes. So, all day, our 6 month old only slept for 100 minutes. Bekah slept longer than that today. Sarah went to bed at 8 pm; Bekah is still up but in a good mood.
Tomorrow we will be heading out early to a pumpkin patch because if we don't got tomorrow, we won't be able to go until Oct. 27. We are going to be out of town on the weekends until then. Tomorrow night Bobby and I will have a date while Jean babysits.
Post pics tomorrow.

Pumpkin Painting and Drumming

Sarah's new place to sit

The corner of the love seat and couch is the perfect place to put Sarah when she's not laying down or in her Bumbo. She does extremely well sitting here. Every once in a while she falls forward.

A Lot of Catching Up to Do

Bekah put Daddy's hat on Sarah when Daddy was at class last weekend.

6 months old!!

I have pictures to post, but no time now. We are in crunch time with school and I have much to do. Time has gone so fast!! I can't believe that 6 months ago today, Sarah was almost 10 hours old. She came so fast!! It was an amazing experience. I still can't believe that I had her in 2 hours with approx. 10 contractions, no pain medication, and 1 push. (which they didn't want me to do because my doctor wasn't there yet, but there was NO holding her back, she wanted to come out, and I didn't want to try to stop her any longer) After having one with an epidural, you want to try to go natural, but you're not as optimistic as with #1.
She doesn't go to the doctor till next Tuesday, so I will let you know her stats after we visit the doc. Bekah will be 3 two weeks from tomorrow, and we will go to the doctor shortly after that for her stats. They grow up so fast!!

On a side note: We got a new refrigerator tonight. Ours just quit working. It was staying cold enough. I had to pay our October rent a week early so our landlord would have the money for it, but it was well worth it!!

Hopefully I will be able to post pics tomorrow. The girls didn't go to bed until 8:15 (Sarah) and 9:30 (Bekah) so I haven't gotten enough done.

Weekend in Short

No time to write detailed right now, but I wanted to let everyone know that we had a very good weekend. Yesterday was wonderful, even with Bobby gone from 7:30 am- 5:30 pm. The girls were wonderful, and we had a great time. It would have been even better if I hadn't been thinking about the school stuff I had to do. Speaking of, I'd better get back to work.

Quick Update this AM

Bekah slept from 6:16 pm-7:30 am (WOW!!!, she was bushed!!)
Sarah slept from 7 pm- 2:45 am, new diaper, jammies finally, bottle, played with Dad, Mom went back to sleep till 6:30 am. Came out, Dad's asleep on the floor, Sarah is awake playing, but obvioiusly hasn't been awake long cause she still has her mimi (pacifier) in.
7:30 am, everyone up and ready to start the day.
Hopefully everyone sleeps through the night tonight!! Daddy needs it. He has his first class tomorrow afternoon 1-5 pm, and then all day Saturday, 8-5. Pray for him, and me as I have to entertain the girls for 9+ hours. It's been 6 weeks since I've had to do this. :~)

Papers to grade, students to prepare for. Pictures tonight if all cooperate.

Got to Get to Sleep

It has been a busy week with not much sleep thanks to Miss Rebekah. I have many pictures to share from our wonderful fallish weekend, but they will have to wait till tomorrow. We have to get in bed!!

I came home from a meeting right around 5 pm. My friend Jean was babysitting. Around 6:15, Bekah fell asleep on the couch while watching Happy Feet. She is bed where's she's been for the last 5 hours!!

Sarah fell asleep right around 7 pm. I thought she was just taking a quick evening nap before her evening routine. Well, she's still sleeping too, 4 hours later, and Bobby just now informs me that her nap from 2-3 pm was only her second nap of the day. If I had known that, I would have gotten her into her jammies quickly and would have given her a bottle before I let her go to sleep. I also just found out that she only had 4 feedings today because of the messed up schedule. I guess it's going to be the 3rd night in the row that we get woken up in the middle of the night. Yeah!!!

NIGHT!

On the Couch, Bathtime, and Playing Outside

Fun on the couch.

Fun in the tub.

Spraying the plants, or trying to. Watching Daddy trying to figure out how many classes he has left to take if he switches majors.

Updates

1)Thank you all for your prayers and words of encouragement. They have been felt and greatly appreciated. We are 99.5% sure that he is going to switch. It just seems like a better option all around for our family. I am really excited!!
2)Sarah is sitting up by herself for up to 30 seconds. And NOT in the tripod position. She can even move from side to side to pick up toys and balance herself pretty well.
3)Bekah is still not completely potty trained. She has only gone poopy in the potty 2 times in the last 3 weeks. The rest of the time, she goes in her panties or pullup, then runs to the bathroom, pulls it down, and throws the poop in the potty. She also every once-in-a-while doesn't make it to the potty for the pee-pee.
4)The fifth week of school almost over for me. Yeah!! Today I had a really stressful day, and so I had Chinese for dinner. :~)
5)Bobby is taking a class with an interesting schedule, and his first class is next Friday.

Will try to put pictures up later~

We would appreciate your prayers

Side note: As I'm starting to type this, Bekah came down on the floor and told me to "Click on Elmo" We have her games, etc, bookmarked at the top of the page. How cute!!

Bobby and I are embarking on the possibility of him changing from the Masters of Divinity Program to the Masters of Christian Leadership.

The new program only requires 60 hours instead of 96 hours. Because he has taken some classes that he doesn't need for the new major, he would end up with 72 hours. This would hopefully allow him to graduate 1 year from May instead of 4 years from December.

There are several reasons for this:

1) Money, UPS pays for 4K per year, but this doesn't cover all of the $427 per credit hour and 15 credits per year that Bobby is taking. Bobby is really, really against not taking out another loan, and we are not sure how easily we can do the extra money out of pocket.
2) The MDiv is not NECESSARY for him to become a pastor. There are a lot of pastors working out there with only another type of masters, or even only a bachelor's degree.
3) The MDiv is a lot of Bible stuff that he's already had and no Leadership classes which he feels he should get.
4) I (Paula) am getting antsy to be able to work not at all, or part time. I have been the "bread winner" for these first 5 years of our marriage with, except for summer breaks, not a lot of "quality" time with my children or Bobby. The thought of 4 more years of this is daunting for me. I am really ready to work part-time or not at all outside the home.

We are really leaning towards this change, but there are still a lot of things to think about and pray about. We appreciate your prayers concerning our decision over the next few days.

(FYI: The only thing that is slightly dissapointing is that if we had considered this more seriously last Fall, he may have been able to finish this year. Bummer!!! (that's for you Jean:~))))

Amazing Daughters

Sarah is 5 months and 2 weeks (will be 6 months on September 24) and she is already able to sit up for short periods of time. Bekah didn't sit up very long until right at 6 months. I think it has everything to do with the use of the Bumbo. It forces her to strengthen those muscles.

Bekah fell asleep on the way to an errand with Bobby and Sarah at 3 pm today. She didn't wake up till 6 pm. She had panties on the whole time. She stayed dry. I sat her on the potty to try to go. She sat for 1 hour and never went. I put a pull-up on her because I needed to feed Sarah and Bekah didn't want me to leave the bathroom. I fed Sarah, got Bekah's dinner and played with them for a while. Bekah is still dry. About 8:15 pm, I tell her that we need to try again. We go in, she goes almost immediately, but not as much as I would have gone if it'd been 5.5 hours since I went to the bathroom. Man, she has a big bladder!!

Dissaster Avoided

How do you keep an almost 3-year-old from falling asleep at 6 pm? (because she would take a 3 hour nap and wake up for at least 3 more hours before going back to sleep)

Give her a popsicle (she did eat a really good dinner) and put on her favorite Veggie Tale sing along DVD that she loves to dance to!!!

I did this last night also. She hasn't been taking naps during the week since Sarah was 1 month old. She usually goes to bed between 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm and this allows Mom (aka, ME) some down time without any children 14 and under.

Who does Bekah look like?

Who Does Sarah look like?

Tough 2 Days

Wow, are my 2 children ever different. Right now I am extremely jealous of my friends that have had their second children recently and their 2nd is very mellow compared to #1. Bekah was not mellow, but wow!!, Sarah is very high maintenance sometimes.
Yesterday and today, Sarah screamed any time Bobby or I left the room or were not right next to her. For Bobby during the day, for me at night. Bobby has been calling it her manic depressive phase.
One of her teeth is coming in more, and I hope this is not why she's been the way she has. If it is, we're in for a long road!! We wouldn't even know when Bekah's teeth came in until we stuck our fingers in her mouth. Go figure!!

Also, the three of us, Bekah, Sarah, and myself, have been fighting a cold. this doesn't help.

FYI: Bekah went to bed finally at 9:15 after getting up before 8 am and not having a nap all day. Sarah went down around 9:30.
I'd better get to my school work. My eyes are starting to cross.

Labor Day Weekend

This weekend we ventured half way up to my parents' house to Deer Creek State Park. We rented a canoe, played in the lake and in the sand, and relaxed on the beach. It was really fun!! Bekah loved being in the water, as usual. It was a beautiful day!!

Saying Goodbye to More Friends

This past Friday, we said goodbye to friends that we've had for the last 2 years. Ben and Sander along with their children Patrick and Amelia.
2 years ago, we met Ben and Sandy, and I convinced Sandy to babysit Bekah for us while Bobby was in class. Patrick is exactly 2 months older than Bekah. They had a daughter 2 months and 3 days before we had Sarah. It has been fun getting to know them, and Bekah loved playing with Patrick at his house and in Sunday School.
Before they moved, Patrick came over to play one last time.
